Family Engagement

Hi all,

Welcome to our Family Engagement page.

You may know me, or have seen me around the school, My name is Mrs Louise Edwards and I am your Family Engagement Officer.

I have worked in Glyn-Gaer Primary School since 2019 and have had many roles, but have to say, this one I am passionate about.

We have lots of things in place: Various Free Courses, parental workshops and classroom based workshops. I am happy to say that the response to these has been great.

We also work closely wthin the community and have been involved in Wheelbarrow in bloom competition for the last two years. Our local food bank and recycle and reuse centre are working with our Eco Commiittee.

We also have great links with our local councillor/ School Govenor Hayden Pritchard, who with a team of community councilors presented an award to our Go Safe winners.

In the meantime if you wish to contact me, please do so.

Take care all

What is Family Engagement ?

Our school has always prided itself on our links with our parents by working closely with you.

Family engagement is a shared responsibility in which schools and other community agencies and organisations are committed to reaching out to engage families in meaningful ways and in which families are committed to actively supporting their children's learning and development.

We feel that effective family engagement cuts across and reinforces learning in the multiple settings where children learn- at home, in Nursery settings, in school, in after school programs, and in the wider community.

We aim to :

  • Establish and foster good relationships with our parents/carers/familiesof our children
  • Encourage and support parental/carer/family involvement with our school and in the children’s learning
  • Encourage good relations and effective dialogue between parents, carers, families with regards to your child’s progress and how that progress can be supported at home
  • Acting as a point of contact for families
  • Leading on pastoral care and wellbeing
  • Helping to ensure smooth transition from school to school
